Titans of the drum and bass scene in their own right, long-standing Cheltenham duo #Annix and Surrey’s man of the moment #Simula are equally renowned as prominent purveyors of a distinctive style they have termed hybrid jump up. Fusing cinematic ambiances and dancefloor-ready melodies with rugged sound design and syncopated rhythms, they have carved their own niche, pioneering a vibrant sound which has collectively earned them tens of millions of listeners. In search of a home for this increasingly popular style of music which eschews traditional genre classifications, the three producers have banded together to form Neksus Sound, an independent label intent on ushering in the new wave of hybrid jump up talent. For its first offering, they team up with internationally acclaimed youngster #KMotionz on “#Diagram”, a single in equal parts elating and unrestrained.
Opening with warped synths, spellbinding pads and reverb-drenched pitched percussion, the track works its way up to an epic crescendo, snapping into an electrifying drop furnished by gravelly stabs, bustling mechanical fills and breathy vocal samples.
