The label #Protocode has been signposting how much the #Australian scene has budded over the past few years. However, the foundations had already been set long before and the #Perth based imprint was offering a home to many artists who were fashioning their places within the wider music circuit. Although a relatively new label, #Protocode have dedicated themselves to building an arsenal of weaponry, something which their forthcoming single of the label represents. Featuring an intimidating set of artists, #Protocode offers up their finely tuned production standards and brings together a host of collaborations which highlight why the launch of Protocode was so hotly anticipated.
Also finding his home in #Perth, #Dynamics is an artist who commits himself to writing music which enables you to hear something a little different each time you listen. Having supported artists such as #Andy_C, #DLR, #Safire and #Skynet internationally, it’s his sets on #RTR_FM, via the #Bass_Check and #Rhythm_Trippin shows which have caught attention of many drum & bass fans. As well as DJing at the infamous Inhibit Promotions, Good Karma, Extended Play and Horizons parties, his quick-firing skills behind the decks translates into his ferocious output. For ‘#The_Habit’, Density joins him alongside the distorted lyricism of #KNOXZ, with a moody, rolling rhythm sweeping through section after section with the upmost precision.
Following suit is ‘#Calling_Me_Close’ with the help of #Confusious. Spending over half a decade honing his production, #Confusious has an energy which many artists would find difficult to match. Having already released on the likes of #Fokuz_Recordings, #Soul_Deep_Recordings and #Good_Karma_Music, his support his far ranging, including #LTJ_Bukem, #Digital, #Ray_Keith and #Arkaik. ‘#Calling_Me_Close’ with #Dynamics gives a pedestal to his talents and together they deliver a track which is effortlessly smooth, punchy and slides through with warbling bass notes.
‘#The_Habit’ and ‘#Calling_Me_Close’ mold together the growing roster of #Protocode and it’s already proving to be a sizeable army. It shows that it’s not just Europe holding the torch for drum & bass, but also the market forged throughout the expanse of Australia.
