#Optiv is an artist which anyone with a knowledge of drum & bass history will be acutely aware of. Through his part in the #Cause4Concern outfit, he’s risen as a leading figure within the scene and in 2003 he capitalised on this through the launch of his #RedLightRecords imprint. They’ve become a recognisable force in their own right, giving a platform to artists both old and new, the type of which have changed the track listing in many DJ sets and have taken over crowds of thousands at Europe’s biggest drum & bass festivals. And over the last sixteen years they’ve released a plethora of hard-hitting releases, something which they’re about to follow up with the collaborative EP ‘Shelter’ from #Xeomi and #Kaiza.

Having already released on labels such as #BadTaste, #KosenProductions, #Hanzom and #Drumatch, the teaming up of Germany based #Kaiza and South Korean producer #Xeomi was sure raise anticipation levels around this upcoming EP from the pair. With #Xeomi’s constantly evolving skills, pushing him past the borders of South Korean, he’s infiltrated the European market. His part amongst the infamous Wobble Warriors in his home country helped carve a place for him within the dance music world in he’s now building on this. Teaming up with #Kaiza. part of the Instinkt and Humanon project and label head of #T3KRecordings, they’re about to dominate global waters. And tracks like ‘#Shelter’, ‘#Endurance’, ‘#Null’ and ‘#Doomgun’ demonstrate exactly why.

Beginning the EP is title-record ‘#Shelter’, proving the enviable production levels which both producers boast. Following in its footsteps is ‘#Endurance’, taking you on a journey amongst its layers of modulated bass. ‘#Null’ punches through with the same intensity and final track ‘#Doomgun’ ricochets from beginning to end, leaving you to become enveloped in its brooding atmospherics. Both artists cut through with the upmost precision and leave no room for error with their intimidating power. They’re the perfect pair to debut their repertoire on #RedLightRecords and in doing so have once again proven why both the label, alongside its head Optiv, are always pushing boundaries.
